Critique
Khaled Hosseini thrives in showing Amir’s search for redemption from his father throughout the book: The Kite Runner. Hosseini exhibit’s an excellent job of providing examples of this, such as Amir’s aspiration of winning the kite tournament and standing up for himself instead of backing down. Not only is this theme formidable, however it engages the reader and allows us to think about the message while we’re not reading the book. It’s clear to see how alike Amir and Hassan think. This is because while Amir is trying to earn Baba’s redemption, Hassan is trying to earn Amir’s. This is shown in this quote said by Hassan “For you a thousand times over.” This message transfers over to grade 9’s because every day constantly, people are trying to earn redemption and respect from their peers.

Synopsis of The Kite Runner
The Kite Runner, the striking, heartbreaking story of an unlikely friendship between a wealthy boy Amir and the son of his father’s servant Hassan. Through several twists and turns, the novel shows Amir’s struggles throughout his life and how it made who he is today, living throughout the obstacles within Afghanistan such as racism and redeeming himself. Amir’s freindship with Hassan is soon torn when his conscience gets the best of him, which leads to him and his father fleeing to California. After living in California for quite a few years, he is called by a former friend who helps him piece together his past in order to fabricate a better future.
